Sprixi is taking a break

Our thanks to everyone who has checked out Sprixi in the last few weeks.   Our extra thanks to those that have wrote about Sprixi on their blogs or sent us valuable feedback.   We appreciate it!

Please bear with us while we have some time offline.   With our large traffic levels Sprixi needs a performance boost.  We also want to improve the way we filter out inappropriate images.

We weren’t happy leaving Sprixi online as it was while we worked on this stuff.

Please subscribe to the blog feed to  know when we’re back.  Thanks for your patience!

Andrew

Well, I got to use the site a little bit before now. Like many, I’m sure, I was informed of Sprixi by LifeHacker.com and probably contributed my small share of bandwidth to overloading the site.

Regardless, you folks have a great product and I’m really looking forward to when it’s up and running again (new and improved even!). I love the “learning” element, the easy customization, and the emphasis on Creative Commons attribution. It’s exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.

Just be careful Google doesn’t buy you up to quickly :)

I liked the look of this for our sports site, http://www.theroar.com.au

For shame! I just found your site a few days ago and have really loved it. Much better than searching for creative commons images on flickr. Come back soon! You make my blogging so much easier.

Good luck with the update – probably a wise decision to go offline for a while. Look forward to Sprixi v2 – it is going to be really useful in education once you have filtering in place and speed things up.

Last week I promoted Sprixi to my newsletter followers, as well as Twitter and Plurk followers. So, I am hoping your offline time is very short. Your product is excellent. I work with schools and teachers. Looking forward to you being back up and running FAST!

Around when do you think you’ll be back? Personally I think you would be better off keeping the site online while you work on upgrades in the background. Being offline could hurt your search engine ranking and traffic in the long run.

Hopefully you’ll be back up soon; I loved what I saw so far and found Sprixi to be very useful!
